Sparky’s Wish List

Spartacus aka Sparky is a handsome little pony who is new to Horse Haven. He is learning what it’s like to live at Tennessee’s Oldest and Largest Equine Humane Organization’s barn. He would like to make sure that many other horses in the future will be able to come to HHT if they need to.

Sparky’s Wish List:
People to join HHT via single or family memberships so they can help HHT grow and prosper in the future.

Salem’s Wish List

Salem is a beautiful blonde who really likes to work. She has a lovely trot and is nicely forward under saddle. She would love a home where she could be ridden regularly.

Salem’s Wish List:
4’ Cold temperature florescent lights for the barn so no one has to wait for the lights to warm up to see her beauty.

Vinegar’s Christmas Wish

Vinegar is a handsome gelding with a super comfortable gait. He likes to work and is very eager to please his human. He’s happy to have come to HHT, the people there helped put the sparkle back in his eye. Now he is ready for his new home.

Vinegar’s Christmas Wish:
Co-op Advantage feed, so all the new horses that come to HHT can eat the same healthy foods he does.

Spirit’s Christmas Wish

Spirit was a little afraid of us when she first came to HHT- all her experiences with people hadn’t been good ones. She’s now learning that people can be her friends and that they mean good things.

Spirit’s Christmas Wish:
A security gate for the property’s entrance, so that everyone may be just as safe and secure as they can be.

Eeyore’s Christmas Wish

Eeyore is a sweet young gaited gelding who came to Horse Haven with a birth defect. He underwent surgery to repair his club feet and is now sound and ready to begin learning how to play with his young friends at HHT.

Eeyore’s Christmas Wish:
A 12’ x 24’ ft concrete pad so his humans can have a proper manure pit so they don’t have to walk all funny trying to wade through the mud puddles after they clean the stalls.

Spice’s Christmas Wish

Spice is a three year old gaited horse who is just as sweet as can be. He’s a very laid back boy and is very willing to learn. He has been started under saddle and just needs the right home to continue his training.

Spice’s Christmas Wish:
16’ corral panels so his people can use every inch of their property for him and his buddies.

Splash’s Christmas Wish

Splash is a very calm gaited mare. She gets along great with her pasture mates. Splash is started under saddle, but will require some additional training. Splash is a good girl for the farrier and loves to be groomed. She is suitable for a beginner rider if the rider is willing to enlist the help of a trainer to help her reach her full potential.

Splash’s Christmas Wish:
Round pen panels so she and all the other horses who are learning can have a safe place to do so.

Huggy Bear’s Christmas Wish

Huggy Bear’s tail was cut by his previous owner but it will grow back. He was a stallion when he arrived here and was immediately gelded. Since Huggy Bear is older, it has taken him a little longer to recover from the surgery- but he did well and had no complications. He is well behaved for bathing, grooming and the farrier. Huggy Bear is working on the lunge line and will be evaluated under saddle in the coming weeks.

Huggy Bear’s Christmas Wish:
Hay for him and his friends at HHT- what’s better than catching up with your buddies over a little snack?

Bonita’s Christmas wish

Aka “The Diva”. Bonita is sweet and somewhat temperamental. She appears to have under saddle training and may have been a show horse in a former life. She loves baths and her stall fan but dislikes fly spray. Bonita trots at liberty but does perform the Paso Fino gait under saddle. Like most of her breed, she can be a little hot but is easy to ride and obedient. Bonita will require an understanding adopter that can tolerate her “diva” attitude.

Bonita’s Christmas wish:
Horse safe round bale feeders- Divas just can’t be pulling their manes out on ol’ cattle hay feeders, you know! Of course, you can send some hay too!

Chester’s Christmas Wish

Chester is a very sweet boy. Even though his eyesight is failing, he is very well adjusted. He goes out to the pasture with his friends every night and comes back into the barn willingly each morning. He is very trusting and would make a great pet in the right circumstances. He does need a kind pasture companion that can help him find his way around. Because of his impaired vision he will also need sturdy fencing.

Chester’s Christmas Wish:
10’ or 12’ fence boards to help make all the paddocks as safe as can be for Chester and his friends.

Perry’s Christmas Wish

Perry is a naturally gaited Paso Fino. When first arriving at HHT, he was anemic and his hind legs were touching each other. He had just lost his mom and was a very sad little horse. Perry has since turned into a delightful youngster with endless possibilities. Due to his young age, Perry will require an owner with some experience in raising and training young horses.

Perry’s Christmas Wish:
A walk through gate for the round pen so Perry won’t be tempted to follow his human friends
.

Larry’s Christmas Wish

Larry is a 10 year old lovable mini gelding who has been dubbed “ The Jon Bon Jovi” of the barn. He is full of personality and very loving. Larry would make a great little companion for some little boy or girl. He has been at the HHT barn for a year now and is still searching for his “Forever Home”.

Larry’s Christmas Wish:

A home of his own with somebody to love him – but he would settle for a big ol’ 100 gallon water trough so he and his pals can stay hydrated as they play out in the field together.

Horse Haven 12 Horses of Christmas

Horse Haven of Tennessee is Tennessee’s Oldest and Largest Equine Humane Organization - 501(c)(3). Our mission is to advocate for, rescue, protect, and defend our God-given equine from abuse and neglect in Tennessee.

During December, the Horse Haven of Tennessee blog will introduce you to the 12 Horses of Christmas, just a dozen out of all the horses currently in our care. We will cover the many ways you can make a difference.

HHT is not supported by government funding. The only way to insure that 100% of your donation goes to help local animals is to make your donation directly to the humane society/rescue organization of your choice. Can you find it in your heart to help one of our 12 Horses of Christmas with their wishes?

Join us at our monthly HHT Neigh and Bray Adoption Day and meet these beautiful horses in person. For more information and a list of dates and times, please check out our website
